One side waits with an answer it worked out in advance; the other arrives later and connects without sending it anything. The longer waits show how long a waiting side lasts.

How the app will really do it. The camera opens for a moment so the device learns its own address, then closes; the waiting side, with no camera, hides its address behind an mDNS name, and the learned address is put back in its place. Best run first thing after opening the app.
